 2008 Fall Senior Luncheon

On November 25th, this year's fall senior luncheon hosted by the Village and held at the Sterling Estates' Clubhouse.
All seniors from the Village and Sterling Estates were invited and more than 100 attended. They  were treated to a fine lunch that included; roast pork, ham, baked and fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad bread and rolls. The many guest speakers that addressed the seniors were; Bridgeview Bank, ( invited them to join their beneficial senior programs and club),  Roberts Park Fire Protection District (gave a presentation on a fire safety), Congressman Dan Lipinski (talked about government assistance programs), Trustee Jeff Kranig and Village Clerk Kathy Svoboda (talked about village services) and Jean Symonds, president of the Justice Seniors Club, (invited any seniors to join the club and explained what they are all about).

The tables were adorned with give away items donated by; Justice Willow Springs Water Commission (2009 colorful calendars),Commissioner Jerry Carter and Director Phil DePaola were in attendance, R.P.F.P.D.( decorated pot holders) Lyons Township Supervisor Russ Hartigan (decorative keyrings)and the Village of Justice ( kitchen dish towels). The luncheon was presented and organized by  the Clerk Kathy Svoboda and her staff. Sterling Estates helped with the cost of the lunch and of course hosted it in their state-of -the -art clubhouse "Great Room" which is part of the new building that also houses their administrative offices. It is located at the main gate entrance to Sterling Estates.

The seniors were entertained by Ainsworth Rose, "The One Man Jamaican Band". He performed many favorites with a Jamaican beat that got  everyone in a happy mood some to the point of getting up and dancing. Everyone really enjoyed the show. After lunch was served and during a musical break, Trustee Kranig and Clerk Svoboda raffled of donated prizes. The prizes were donated by Fairplay Finer foods of Hickory Hills on 95th Street.

Mayor Kris Wasowicz, Clerk Kathy Svoboda and the Justice Village Board continue the tradition of providing these twice annual luncheons to honor our senior citizens and to recognize the contributions they have made to the village and to society as a whole in years past.
They also would like to thank the many people and organizations that made this event possible through either their time, monetary or gift donations.

 New I-294 Digital Billboard

The Village of Justice is happy to announce the new digital billboard, by Clear Channel Outdoor, is up and running.
The billboard is located on Frontage Road in the Justice Firestone property. It is directed at the southbound I-294 traffic but can be seen from Archer Road coming from Willow Springs and from Frontage Road.
Trustee Kranig, who heads the committee for the Building Department, worked out an agreement with Clear Channel. In this agreement, along with the standard permit fees, Clear Channel is providing 25k seconds of advertising, in the standard 10 seconds spots, per year for the life of the sign. This is a huge benefit to the Village as we can use those spots to advertise events within the village. Events like the Ethnic Fest and the weekly Saturday Cruise Night at Craigor's II when it resumes. This in turn will help bring people into the village for those events and hopefully bring sales tax dollars with them.

Clear Channel Outdoor went live with the billboard the week before Thanksgiving. Our webmaster provided them with artwork of the new village marquee; they in turn had a Thanksgiving message that was played on the digital billboard. (see picture above)
On November 28th the Village message was changed to read "Happy Holidays".
On December 26th the Village message was changed to read "2009 Happy New Year". If you wish to view it live it can be seen on Frontage Road from the Quick Pick Food and Liquors parking lot. This message will run through January 4, 2009. It is the same artwork for the holidays that is used on the Village homepage banner. The Village Webmaster produced all of the artwork for the new years message including the background. The village now has full control over the appearance, message and the times for display.

The Village is proud to make this announcement and believes that it will benefit us all.
It's another achievement of the present administration, under Mayor Wasowicz, in moving the Village forward in a proactive, positive direction.

 Santa Comes to Town!

On Saturday, December 20th, Santa came to town early to make his annual pre-Christmas ride through the Village.
Santa waved to residents while ridding atop on one of the Roberts Park Fire Protection District fire trucks. With sirens blaring to call to all the children big and small to let them know that Santa is here and to be good boys and girls because Christmas is just around the corner!

Santa drives through town with the R.P.F.P.D. The Roberts Park Fire Protection District continued its' long standing tradition of escorting Santa around the village. They drove up and down every street within the village, in a parade, to help Santa bring his message to all of good cheer, peace on earth and good will towards man, not only during the holidays but all year long!
Happy Holidays!
