On Tuesday, August 4th 2009, the Justice
Police Department sponsored National Night Out at
the Lipinski Center.
This year’s event featured a disc jockey, face
painting, clowns, a balloon sculptor, numerous
inflatables, a petting zoo, caricature artist,
canine demonstration, and a neighborhood barbecue.
Best of all, everything was free! According to
Justice Police Chief Bob Gedville, the event was an
overwhelming success. “I was extremely happy with
the level of attendance. Approximately 300-400
people were on hand for a fun-filled night with
perfect weather,” Chief Gedville said. “I hope
everyone had a pleasant and enjoyable evening, I
know I did! Thanks for attending, and I look forward
to a bigger and better National Night Out in 2010.”
Justice’s
National Night Out was coordinated by members of the
Justice Police Department with assistance from the
Roberts Park Fire Department. The annual event
is designed to strengthen our communities by
encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger
relationships with each other and with their local
law enforcement partners. The goal is to heighten
crime-prevention awareness, build support and
participation in local anti-crime programs, and most
importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods
are organized and fighting back. It’s also the
perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors
even better.
This year's contest brought over
190 art designs from the students from
the District 109 schools; Wilkins and
Brodnicki. Out
of those designs three were picked as the
best and one was chosen to be the 2009
vehicle sticker.
At the board meeting on February 23, 2009
