I.D.O.T
Division of Traffic Safety
Recognizes the Justice
Police Department |
The Justice Police Department participated in the
Fourth Annual Seat Belt Incentive Program for
productivity from May 1- May 31, 2010. This program
was administered by the Illinois Department of
Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety (DTS).
The goal of the program is to save lives and prevent
severe injuries on Illinois highways and achieve a
higher percentage of safety belt compliance rate
through aggressive safety belt enforcement. This is
a statewide program and hundreds of agencies
participated.
DTS awarded equipment grants to agencies based on
the number of citations issued, on a department per
capita basis. The top award was a $24,500 grant, for
the purchase of a new patrol car. Additionally,
there were 3 awards of $10,000, 6 awards of $5,000,
9 awards of $2,600, 9 awards of $2,000 and 15 awards
of $1,000.
I am happy to announce that for the second
consecutive year, the Justice Police Department was
selected as the overall winner out of 200 or more
participating agencies!
Our department will soon receive the $24,500 grant
for the purchase of a new patrol car.
In addition, the officers issued over 1400 citations
for failure to wear seatbelts during this campaign.
We have collected $27,200.00 in fines and there is
an additional $16,200.00 that is currently
outstanding.
Deputy Chief Kraig McDermott of the Justice Police
Department administered the program locally and the
entire patrol division participated. I would like to
thank each officer for their dedication and hard
work, you all should be proud of what was
accomplished! I would also like to thank the members
of our Communications Center. They had the task of
entering each violation into the computer database,
which at times was overwhelming. Thanks again, I am
proud to lead such a great group of professionals!

We've Added a Search Engine to the Website!
A great
new feature has been added to the website to enhance your "user
friendly" experience.
A Search Engine!
This will
allow you to search the Village website and find
what you're looking for faster without all the
unnecessary clicking! On the Home Page look for the
"Search site for" input box under the "Quick Notes
and News" section, enter the keywords of what you
want to search. For example: if you want to view the
minutes from a board meeting type minutes, and click
the "Start search" button. Sit back and in no time
the results will fade in. Everything connected with
the words you search will be listed. Simply click on
the result you wish to view and the search results
will navigate to it for you. When your done, either
click the back arrow in your browser to return to
the home page to check out more results or follow a
link on the page you are on. To start a new search
click the reset button.
This new enhancement to the Village Website is part
of Mayor Wasowicz, Clerk Kathy Svoboda and the Board
of Trustees continuation of always looking for new
ways of making it easier for the residents to
communicate, find information and to be a part of
their community.
Yet another
innovative feature is the Weather at a glance
icon on the home page. Look for the icon below the
date and next to the clock. Simply Click on the icon
with the present temperature, and you will be
redirected to the "Weather Underground" website
which is set to show you weather conditions and
forecast for Justice. You'll find current weather,
daily and weekly forecasts and many choices/links to
view radar both local and national, various weather
maps, astronomy, education, marine forecast and moon
phases. There are many more links even sports
weather forecast that will let you know whether or
not to bring a rain coat to the ball game.
We hope you enjoy both of these new features.

911 Seniors Phone Program
During the regular
meeting of the Justice Seniors on Tuesday August 28, 2007 12:30pm at the
Village Hall's all purpose room, there was a special presentation by
the Cook County Sheriff's office of the "911 Seniors
Phone Program". This program provides, free of charge, a cell phone that
only dials 911. These phones when carried by seniors will provide
emergency help at any time. This is extremely helpful to seniors that
live alone or have to be alone for any amount of time. If an emergency
situation of any nature should arise they will be able to call for help.
If you know of a senior
that could benefit from this program, please let them know and or assist
them in participating in this program. Their lives may depend on it!
This program save
lives!
These phones have been
donated. If you have an old cell phone you can drop it off at the
Village Clerk's office. There is a drop box for cell phones at the
counter.
Your involvement in this
program makes it work for all. Please help in any way you can.
Donate a cell phone,
notify or assist a senior in being a part of this program.
Be a part of your community!
